About
Mylie is a fan of sigils, astrology, and astronomy, which has landed her a position as a researcher looking into how astrological star charts and constellations influence fate and vice-versa. While first residing in Hamho, she has since relocated to Welisris for her research.
Personality
Mylie is a caring, somewhat energetic Typyl who tends to prioritize others’ needs over her own. She’s known to regularly take action to help others in need and even offer advice if requested. Her friends tend to categorize her as a “gremlin,” with her antics including strange noises, physical & verbal teasing, sharing things she finds humorous (or things she finds appalling so others can share in her misery), and being a friendly nuisance. Lucky for those around her, Mylie is able to restrain herself rather easily in that regard when the situation calls for it, though the same cannot be said for her compassion for her friends.
Mylie suffers from depression and anxiety, along with having a strong tendencies towards self-deprecation and body image issues. She’s trying her best to work through it all, though her jokes do usually have herself as the punchline, and she’s still having a rather hard time loving herself and her body, even as a Typyl.
History
Mylie resided in Hamho above the surface, being personally unable to breathe underwater mundanely. Before she learned to do so, she would spend hours and hours looking up at the sky, counting stars, noting constellations, and even tracking each moon’s various cycles. While her skill with flumin was a necessity due to her environment, for signum, it was a passion. Before she knew it, she had acquired star charts, astrology kits, and a dedicated notebook for anything related. After enough time, she had decided to move forward to Welisris to follow the sky more accurately and reach new audiences for her research.
Mylie has yet to find anything of significance in her research, but with her dedication, she’s bound to someday.
Skills
Sorcia
Mylie’s capabilities with Sorcia are hardly offensive, making her far more capable in a supportive role when tasked with an expedition.
Flumin
Her skills using flumin-based Sorcia are mostly protective in manner, using water to lessen the force of a blow or even strip it of its momentum before it can even connect. In addition to this, she’s mastered the ability to shape the water in a way that allows for underwater exploration and survival when necessary, for herself and any allies she may have at the time.
Aqua Barrier: Mylie summons a wall of condensed water to absorb the momentum of an attack, potentially stopping it altogether.
Breathing Bubble: Mylie shapes the water around someone's head to create a pressurized air bubble, with the perfect amount of pressure to evaporate oxygen from surrounding water so the target can breathe underwater.
Cushion Wave: Like Aqua Barrier, Mylie summons a large wave of water moving in the opposite direction of the target's current movement, catching them and reducing, or removing, the impact of knockback or falling safely.
Signum
While Mylie’s repertoire flumin-based Sorcia is protective, her signum-based Sorcia is based in knowledge-gathering and battlefield augmentation. In combat, instead of affecting the opponents themselves, Mylie is capable of reading the stars to convey abilities and weaknesses of her opponents to her party, as well as best locations to fight for tactical advantages.
Clairvoyance: Mylie uses the current layout of constellations in the sky and known information on her adversaries to discern the most likely vulnerabilities and strategies related to them.
Star Chart: Mylie uses that day's star chart to predict the best, safest, or quickest actions to progress.
Astrological Assessment: Mylie takes that moment's positioning of the stars and overlays it on the battlefield, altered so that it allows her allies to see strategically advantageous positioning and tactics.
Motio
Though she is well practiced with motio-based Sorcia, Mylie doesn’t use it regularly. She’s found niches for it, like giving an ally a movement opportunity during combat, or traversing a difficult location easier, though they tend to only be specific to a situation.
Anti-hindrance: Mylie draws from quantum theory to allow the target to be freed from restraints harmlessly.
Instant Parry: Mylie accelerates her reaction timing and effortlessly parries a non-Sorcia attack directed towards her.
Blurred Dash: Mylie allows the target to dance across the field swiftly and smoothly, leaving a fluid afterimage.
Mixed Sorcia
Quickdraw: (Flumin + Motio) Mylie moves the water molecules in the air out of her striking range, while simultaneously releasing her sword from its scabbard to perform a lightning-fast strike.
Reflective Moonpool: (Flumin + Signum) Mylie shapes a perfectly still surface of water to observe the sky in a reversed reflection, revealing divining information.
Perfect Pathway: (Signum + Motio) Mylie charts the most direct and effortless route to a specific location for an ally during an encounter.
Sparkling Stars: (Flumin + Signum) Mylie creates a refractive and reflective ball of water to blind her opponents with redirected starlight.
Comet Speed: (Signum + Motio) Mylie observes and harnesses the speed of a shooting star, and transfers it proportionally to her target.
Swimswift: (Flumin + Motio) Mylie systematically creates a current of water around the target that consistently pushes them in the direction they wish to go, shaped in such a way to increase swimming speed exponentially.
Hidden-Latch Cane Sword
Mylie’s preferred weapon is a cane that also houses a shortsword in the shaft, with a hidden trigger to release the blade if necessary. The cane itself is capable of conducting Sorcia, especially for her protection spells, while the blade itself is mostly for self-defense, or occasionally assisting with star reading due to the black metal’s mirror sheen.
When forced into melee combat, she takes on a variation of iaido specializing in parrying maneuvers and taking advantage of her opponent’s stance, wielding her blade with speed and finesse, subtly weaving motio-based Sorcia into her attacks.
Mylie is highly proficient in close-quarters-combat with her cane sword, though her strikes do little damage and are more meant to out-maneuver her opponent, driving them to make a mistake that she can capitalize on while distancing herself so her allies can step in to assist.
Relationships
Mylie Umbre
Mylie doesn’t view herself in the brightest light. She believes she’s selfish, needy, irritating, unhelpful, unskilled, etc., despite proving otherwise on a regular basis. She desperately wants to love herself, but she’s facing a mental block she can’t quite get over.

Inspirations
- umbreotter herself, and her fursona.
- For Mylie's fighting style with her weapon and Sorcia:
- α Patroklos from Soul Calibur V.
- Sarah Sisulart from Lost Odyssey.
- The Astrologian job from Final Fantasy XIV.
- Despite the similarities, Mylie's appearance is in no way based on Welt Yang from the Honkai series, most recently Honkai: Star Rail.
