Overview

This settlement stands as proof that these lands are capable of finding a living in, provided you are not faint of heart.

Given its dangerous location and housing some of the most talented sword hands and navigators, they have the ability to move around corruption and avoid areas that the common adventurer may find themselves wandering into by accident, making them ideal at creating trails between settlements each week. It's this reputation that they've earned the title “The Trailblazer Capital”.

They live and die by their most prominent trade; Monster Hunting. Their homes, their resources, their food even, these and more are all provided by the hunters of the Du'kiin Clan, a clan of western-dressed Typyl who are known for bearing augments that allow them to perform beyond their maximum boundaries.

The machinery strewn about the village as well as their augments are crude at first glance, but effective. The people here are a rough, scrappy lot thanks to their values and their environment. Everyone here's built to last, not just the hunters, but the chefs, craftsmen, apothecaries, engineers, everyone works to support each other in their trying land.

Flag

The revolver icon invokes each seat at The Round: Research, Residence, Exectuive, Hunting, Trailblazing, and the Chief. The brown refers to the nature and the colors of Erthen, what was Lupe and Privo's homeland. Red invokes the image of fire, blood, passion and violence.

The “vortex” surrounding the icon represents the life cycle in Domum Du'kiin.

“Every day we sped here is a gamble
The reason we are here because of a failed bet.”

Ruling Body

The founding Mother of both the Du'kiin Clan and Domum Du'kiin acts as the settlement's Matriarch, Queen, and Leader who works in conjunction with a representative from each corner of town. The Research, Residence, Executive, Hunting, and Trailblazing Committee each assign a representative to speak and dine at 'The Round'.

The Round is a table that the “Big Ones” talk and eat at. It is situated on a slightly elevated portion of The Mess Hall, the largest building in Domum Du'kiin. This building operates as both a massive restaurant and a Government Building to promote a combination of unity and transparency.

Committee's Responsibilities

  • Research – Self Explanatory. Scholars, Apothecaries, Scientists, Engineers, they're in charge of information.
  • Residence – Health Care, Security, Law Enforcement, Accommodations, Education, Food, things to make sure people have a good home to come back to.
  • Executive - They're the ones that bring all the plans into fruition. Builders, Inventors, Crafters, They're the ones to get it done!
  • Hunting - Exterior Security, Ecologists, Trackers, Fighters, Military, these here are “The Dukes” that Du'kiin puts up.
  • Trailblazing - Commerce, establishing relations and trade routes, explorers, scouts, even diplomats. They are crazy enough to try and make sense of chaos.

Beliefs

“Strive for greater Strength; hold fast to your Passion; through Unity we survive.”

The people hold three values above all else; Strength, Passion, and Unity. This is no more apparent than visiting The Mess Hall, the building that acts as a hub for all who enter Domum Du'kiin. It is a place meant to preserve open unity with the absence of walls. It asks not for passions to be hidden away. It also tests your strength in many ways, though most never think beyond the obvious 'Strength of Appetite'. It is a place of preparation, bonding, and symbolic importance.

Geography

Being surrounded by lands that change every week, Duke Town is protected by a field of Anti-Corruption energy that preserves the town and all the structures within. Being that this town is not quite small, but far from being called a city, the structure that projects this field is quite tall and occupies the center of town, making it appear almost donut-like from a bird's eye view.

Rotating around town, each district is separated along with a portion of this Donut being covered by an elevated district accessible through a lift.

Districts

Landmarks & Services

Furria Guild

The Furria Guild in Domum Du'kiin offers unique services:

  • *REST Rest Inn
Unlike normal Inns, the guild's rest inn allows for any individual to rest inside one for a limited amount of hours compared to staying for a whole day. Perfect only for passing time and taking small breaks… as long they respect others who stay in there as well.
  • *CAFE Expanded Restaurant
Due to the prevalent nature of food culture, and the relatively brash and loud ambience of The Mess Hall, the Guild would provide accommodations for those seeking a more reserved or quiet dining experience. It functions as a coffeehouse, a study hall, and a restaurant.

Airship Port

The Airship Port of Vol'Tairga can be located at the Mid-man's Layer and extends outside to the kingdom's outer walls. It serves as the destination where any individual can access any available settlement in the continent through the use of airships.

Private airships also dock here but will have to require a license to do so.

Hotsprings Inn

In coordination of the Furria Guild to Vol'Tairga, the kingdom set up a hotsprings underground that serves as a popular resting inn for travelers and civilians alike. Customers can take a few hours to rest inside this inn with an opportunity to relax in the hotsprings.

Museum of Steam History

The Museum of Steam History serves as the location where an individual can find Vol'Tairga's history and the progress of Steam Technology introduced through the ages. Replicas of Human Steam technologies found from the H.A.C. can be found here as well.

Statue of the Founding Sultan

Located in the center of the Sultana's Layer, the Statue of the Founding Sultan Rata'Gaskr can be found. The statue was made of a special alloy carefully crafted to replicate the image of Rata'Gaskr and is protected by Sorcia in order not to be tampered and destroyed.

The statue serves as a reminder of the founder that founded Vol'Tairga.

Steam Foundry

The Steam Foundry is the main factory located at the Sultana's Layer for creating steam, which is used for various technologies centering machinery and creation of energy that is spread around the kingdom. Though showing as a spetacular building available to be commonly visited, entry is not allowed unless they are authorized personnel or in possession of permissions that allows an individual to go inside.

However, a factory tour is given monthly though it only shows a small part of the foundry itself.

History

As seen on the plaque of the statue of Rata'Gaskr, the founding sultan of Vol'Tairga

“A vision created this kingdom, but it's people will make it grow.”
- Rata'Gaskr after placing the first stone

Many people know the stories of Rata'Gaskr the Desertwalker, but the truth is always altered with each generation.

Rata'Gaskr was a simple dragon. Travelling the world in search for a place he could call home. A vision came to him one cold night, and told him of a Majestic Kingdom that thrives on the happiness of it's people.

Following the direction the vision showed him, Rata'Gaskr travelled leagues, days, months and years. He faced many challenges, from starvation and thirst, to the mighty Griffons of Mardern. He traveled till his body became weak from exhaustion. But when he stopped and collapsed, he saw it. The Majestic Kingdom he sought for many years, billowing up from the sand in jets of steam and dust. As the dust cleared, he heard the sounds of bells, of children laughing, the voices of joyful people.

Rata'Gaskr climbed the nearby mountain and with only his bare hands and his knife, he carved the first stone for the kingdom.

The Exile Of The First

This was the most notorious event that ever happened in the entire history of Vol'Tairga. 10 Generations after it's founding, a rival noble sought control of the kingdom's prosperity, steam. Rhi-Shiki, Tenth Sultana, was assassinated by the noble Marh'Tul, the Hound-Serpent in hopes that the council would sway in his favor for the throne.

This caused an uproar as he demanded that being the next in line due to there being no children from Rhi-Shiki, he take over. The council started an investigation and found Marh'Tul guilty and had him and his entire family exiled. The council discovered that Rhi-Shiki had a bastard child, which upon close examination, was deemed worthy to follow the Beliefs of the Founding Father Rata'Gaskr.
